Using AI to improve polyp detection during colonoscopy
A Comprehensive Review of the Impact of a COmPuter-aIded reaL-time pOlyp deTection System on Adult Colonoscopy (COPILOT Study) - a Single Institution Adoption Experience

What this trial studies
This observational study evaluates the effectiveness of the GI Genius Intelligent Endoscopy Module in enhancing the adenoma detection rate (ADR) during colonoscopies in a multi-ethnic Asian population in Singapore. Over a two-year period, adult patients undergoing colonoscopy will be recruited to assess the impact of AI guidance on polyp detection compared to historical data from a period when AI was not utilized. The study aims to collect demographic, procedural, and histological data to determine the effectiveness of this technology in improving colonoscopy outcomes.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates include all adult patients scheduled for a colonoscopy at Sengkang General Hospital.
Not a fit: Patients with incomplete or failed colonoscopy, previous colorectal cancers, or poor bowel preparation may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could lead to improved detection of adenomatous polyps, thereby reducing the risk of colorectal cancer in patients.
How similar studies have performed: Previous studies have shown that computer-assisted detection systems can significantly increase adenoma detection rates, indicating a promising approach.
