Using AI to assist radiologists in interpreting chest X-rays for tuberculosis screening
EVALUATE: Estimating the Value-Add of Lunit Software's Use to Accelerate TB Elimination

What this trial studies
This clinical trial evaluates the effectiveness of computer-aided detection (CAD) software in assisting radiologists with chest X-ray (CXR) interpretations during tuberculosis (TB) screening. Conducted across 80 community-based screening events in three provinces of Vietnam, the trial compares the accuracy and efficiency of CXR interpretations when CAD software is used versus standard radiologist-only interpretations. The INSIGHT CXR CAD software will automate the identification of normal CXR images, allowing radiologists to focus on more complex cases. This pragmatic approach aims to enhance TB screening outcomes in real-world settings.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are adults aged 18 and older who are willing to be screened for tuberculosis.
Not a fit: Patients currently being treated for tuberculosis or those who have recently received a TB diagnosis will not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this approach could significantly improve the accuracy and efficiency of TB screening, leading to earlier detection and treatment.
How similar studies have performed: While CAD software has been successfully integrated into cancer screening programs, this specific application for TB screening is relatively novel and has not been extensively tested.
