What this trial studies

This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of multiparametric renal Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) in assessing chronic kidney disease (CKD). It will involve three stages: initially testing MRI protocols on 45 CKD patients, followed by a larger cohort of 450 patients over two years to track CKD progression, and finally comparing MRI results with traditional renal biopsy in a subset of patients. The goal is to improve prognostic information and treatment options for CKD patients.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates are adults aged 18-75 with chronic kidney disease categories G1-4 and specific albuminuria levels.

Not a fit: Patients with conditions like autosomal dominant polycystic kidney disease or those who have had recent acute kidney injury may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this approach could lead to more accurate assessments and better management of chronic kidney disease.

How similar studies have performed: While the use of MRI in kidney assessment is emerging, this specific multiparametric approach is relatively novel and has not been extensively tested in prior studies.
