What this trial studies
This research aims to evaluate the feasibility of the Down Dog prenatal yoga mobile app for improving the well-being of African American pregnant women. Over a 12-week period, participants will engage in prenatal yoga for at least 20 minutes, three times a week, while wearing a fitness tracker and completing online surveys. The study will assess changes in mental and physical health and identify necessary cultural adaptations for the app. Participants will be recruited from local clinics and social media, and the study will contribute to understanding how prenatal yoga can enhance maternal and child health outcomes.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are African American women aged 18-46, between 13-28 weeks pregnant, and first-time mothers with no prior yoga experience.
Not a fit: Patients with high-risk pregnancies or severe psychiatric disorders may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could provide a valuable tool for improving mental and physical health among African American pregnant women.
How similar studies have performed: While similar studies on prenatal yoga have shown positive outcomes, this specific approach using a mobile app is relatively novel.
