What this trial studies

This study investigates the effectiveness of a specialized pacifier in correcting malocclusions such as posterior crossbite and anterior open bite in young children. The intervention involves the use of the 102 Medical Pacifier from Curaprox, Switzerland, aimed at addressing dental alignment issues that may arise from prolonged pacifier or bottle use. Children who have been using a pacifier or baby bottle for at least six months and exhibit specific dental conditions will be included in the study. The goal is to determine if this approach can lead to improved dental outcomes without the need for more invasive treatments.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates are children who have been using a pacifier or baby bottle for the last six months and show signs of specific malocclusions.

Not a fit: Patients who are thumb-sucking, have syndromic conditions, or are currently undergoing orthodontic treatment may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this approach could provide a non-invasive solution for correcting dental malocclusions in young children.

How similar studies have performed: While the use of pacifiers for dental correction is a novel approach, similar studies have shown varying degrees of success in addressing malocclusions in young children.
