What this trial studies
This research focuses on utilizing a novel Magnetic Resonance Imaging technique called Ultra Short Echo Time (UTE) to capture clearer images of the lungs. The study aims to compare lung images and health data from individuals with various pulmonary diseases to those of healthy individuals. Participants will undergo a single MRI session lasting 10 to 30 minutes, and some may also complete a spirometry test to assess lung function. The goal is to develop and validate UTE MRI as a safer alternative to traditional CT imaging for lung assessment.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates include individuals aged 5 years and older with various lung diseases or healthy individuals for comparison.
Not a fit: Patients with significant comorbidities or those who do not meet standard MRI eligibility criteria may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could provide a safer imaging option for patients with lung diseases, reducing exposure to ionizing radiation.
How similar studies have performed: While traditional MRI techniques have been used, the application of UTE MRI for lung imaging is relatively novel and has not been extensively tested in prior studies.
