What this trial studies
This clinical trial evaluates the performance of the new Plasma Filter PX2 during therapeutic plasma exchange (TPE) treatments for patients with autoimmune diseases. The study collects treatment data using the PX2 filter in conjunction with the multiFiltrate and multiFiltratePRO devices, focusing on its effectiveness in separating plasma from blood. It is designed as a one-arm study to reflect real-world clinical practice without control treatments, allowing for empirical evidence to be gathered on the filter's performance. There is no specific treatment schedule defined, providing flexibility in the application of TPE.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates include adults aged 18 and older who require therapeutic plasma exchange and can safely undergo the procedure with the PX2 filter.
Not a fit: Patients with known hypersensitivity to the materials in the PX2 filter or those with heparin allergies may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could enhance the effectiveness of plasma exchange treatments for patients with autoimmune diseases.
How similar studies have performed: While this approach is being evaluated for the first time with the PX2 filter, similar studies using other plasma filters have shown promising results.
