What this trial studies
This study investigates how a mobile health application, combined with training, can help colorectal cancer patients manage the side effects of chemotherapy, such as diarrhea and fatigue. It employs a quasi-experimental design with a pre-test-post-test control group, involving 46 patients from the Internal Medicine Medical Oncology outpatient clinic at Istanbul University-Cerrahpasa. Participants will be randomly assigned to either an intervention group, receiving the mobile app and training, or a control group. Data will be collected using various assessment scales to evaluate the impact on patients' quality of life.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are colorectal cancer patients currently receiving adjuvant chemotherapy and willing to participate in the study.
Not a fit: Patients who are not diagnosed with colorectal cancer or are not undergoing adjuvant chemotherapy will not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this approach could significantly improve the quality of life for colorectal cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy.
How similar studies have performed: Previous studies have shown success with mobile health applications in managing symptoms for other cancer types, suggesting potential for this approach in colorectal cancer.
