What this trial studies

This study aims to address the high rates of loneliness and opioid use disorder (OUD) among individuals recently released from jail or prison. It will test the effectiveness of the Marigold Mobile Peer Support app, which provides digital peer recovery support to enhance social connectedness and improve treatment outcomes. Participants will be individuals who have been prescribed medication for OUD while incarcerated and are currently in recovery. The app facilitates structured conversations with peer moderators to foster support and engagement in recovery.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are adults aged 18 and older who have a history of being prescribed medication for opioid use disorder while incarcerated and have been released within the past two years.

Not a fit: Patients who are not recently released from jail or prison or who have not been prescribed medication for opioid use disorder may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this approach could significantly improve recovery outcomes and reduce loneliness for individuals with a history of opioid use disorder and criminal justice involvement.

How similar studies have performed: While the use of digital health platforms for peer support is a growing field, this specific approach targeting recently released individuals with opioid use disorder is relatively novel.
