Using a mobile app to improve information and outcomes for patients with aortic stenosis

Impact of Enhanced Information Provision by Using a Mobile App on Subjective Information Level As the Basis for Shared-decision Making and Patient-reported Outcome Measures (PROMs) in Patients with Aortic Stenosis

NA · Heart and Diabetes Center North-Rhine Westfalia · NCT06706635

What this trial studies

This trial evaluates whether enhanced information provided through a mobile application can increase the subjective information level in patients suffering from severe aortic stenosis. The study focuses on patients who are scheduled for aortic valve replacement (TAVI) and aims to assess if this improved information can lead to better patient-reported outcomes. Participants will be required to complete surveys in German to measure their experiences and outcomes. The intervention involves the application of the mobile app designed specifically for this purpose.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are patients with severe aortic valve stenosis who are scheduled for aortic valve replacement and can communicate in German.

Not a fit: Patients who do not speak German or have mild aortic stenosis may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this approach could lead to improved understanding and management of aortic stenosis for patients, enhancing their overall treatment experience.

How similar studies have performed: While the use of mobile apps for patient education is gaining traction, this specific approach targeting aortic stenosis is relatively novel and has not been extensively tested.
