Using a cognitive app to assess brain tumor patients' quality of life
Integration of Neurocognitive Biomarkers Into a Neuro-Oncology Clinic
This study tests whether a brain health app can help doctors understand the quality of life and cognitive function of adults treated for brain tumors at the Miami Cancer Institute.

What this trial studies
This observational registry study aims to evaluate the feasibility of using the Brainlab Cognition app in a neuro-oncology clinic to assess neurocognitive function among patients with central nervous system tumors. It will also explore the integration of electronically reported quality of life parameters into clinical practice. The study will involve adult patients treated for brain tumors at the Miami Cancer Institute, focusing on their experiences and outcomes post-treatment. Data will be collected prospectively to inform future clinical applications.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates include adult patients (18+) with central nervous system tumors who are undergoing treatment and have a life expectancy of at least six months.
Not a fit: Patients receiving radiotherapy for functional diseases or those who are under 18, pregnant, or incarcerated may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could enhance the understanding of neurocognitive function and quality of life in brain tumor patients, leading to improved patient care.
How similar studies have performed: While the integration of cognitive assessments in clinical settings is being explored, this specific approach using the Brainlab Cognition app is relatively novel.
Eligibility criteria

Inclusion Criteria: 1. All adult (18+) patients with central nervous system (CNS) tumors, both primary brain malignancies and brain metastases, treated with radiotherapy (partial brain, stereotactic radiosurgery, stereotactic fractionated radiotherapy, or whole-brain radiotherapy), surgery, and/or antineoplastic therapy and followed thereafter at Miami Cancer Institute (MCI) 2. Life expectancy ≥ 6 months 3. Willingness to participate in ongoing registration study Exclusion Criteria: 1. Patients receiving radiotherapy to the brain for functional disease (arteriovenous malformations, trigeminal neuralgia, essential tremors, etc.) 2. Pediatric patients (\<18 years old), pregnant women, and prisoners.
