What this trial studies

This study evaluates the impact of web-based 360° Virtual Reality movies on reducing fear and anxiety in patients diagnosed with various types of cancer, including breast, lung, prostate, and head and neck cancers. The approach involves utilizing questionnaires to quantitatively assess patients' perceived levels of fear and anxiety before and after exposure to the VR content. The VR movies have been developed based on extensive discussions with healthcare professionals and are designed to address specific fears associated with cancer treatment. The implementation of these VR movies aims to enhance the patient care pathway by integrating innovative technology into clinical practice.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are adults aged 18 and older who have been diagnosed with breast, lung, prostate, or head and neck cancer and can communicate in Dutch.

Not a fit: Patients currently undergoing radiotherapy treatment or those who have previously viewed the VR videos may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this intervention could significantly alleviate fear and anxiety in cancer patients, improving their overall treatment experience.

How similar studies have performed: While the use of virtual reality in healthcare is gaining traction, this specific application for cancer-related fear and anxiety is relatively novel and has not been extensively tested in prior studies.
