What this trial studies
This observational multicenter cohort study aims to enhance knowledge about the treatment of adult patients experiencing status epilepticus (SE). By collecting patient data from the University Hospital of Basel and the Cantonal Hospital Aarau, the study will analyze the impact of treatment adaptations based on outcome prediction models and risk stratification. The focus is on monitoring, detecting, preventing, and managing complications associated with SE to improve patient outcomes.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are adult patients aged 18 and older who have been diagnosed with status epilepticus and treated at the participating hospitals.
Not a fit: Patients younger than 18 years or those with repetitive seizures not qualifying for status epilepticus may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could lead to improved treatment strategies and outcomes for patients suffering from status epilepticus.
How similar studies have performed: While this study focuses on observational data collection, similar studies have shown promise in improving outcomes for patients with status epilepticus through enhanced treatment strategies.
