What this trial studies

This observational study aims to assess the long-term effects of the COVID-19 pandemic on under-served and under-represented women in North Carolina. Participants will complete a 45-minute online survey covering various aspects of their demographics, health, and environment. The study seeks to identify the mental, physical, and socio-economic impacts of the pandemic on these populations and to gather baseline data for future follow-up studies. The ultimate goal is to inform community-based programs that can enhance recovery and resilience in these communities.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are African American or Black, Hispanic or Latino, American Indian or Alaska Native, Asian American, or Native Hawaiian women aged 18 and older residing in North Carolina.

Not a fit: Patients who do not meet the demographic criteria or have conditions that may pose undue risk during study procedures may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this study could lead to targeted public health interventions that improve the mental and physical health outcomes for minority women affected by COVID-19.

How similar studies have performed: While there have been studies addressing COVID-19 disparities, this specific approach focusing on U4 women is novel and aims to fill a critical gap in understanding their unique challenges.
