Understanding the genetics of uveitis
Genetics of Uveitis
This study is trying to find out if there are specific genetic factors in people with uveitis by looking at their blood samples to help improve how we understand and manage the condition.

What this trial studies
This observational study aims to enhance knowledge about uveitis by collecting blood samples from patients diagnosed with the condition. The researchers will isolate DNA from these samples and perform sequencing to identify any genetic mutations or associations linked to uveitis and infectious uveitis. The goal is to uncover the underlying mechanisms of the disease, which could lead to better understanding and management of uveitis.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates include patients diagnosed with uveitis or infectious uveitis, such as those with toxoplasmosis retinochoroiditis or herpes-associated retinitis.
Not a fit: Patients who are unable to provide consent or from whom an adequate blood sample cannot be obtained will not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could lead to improved diagnosis and treatment strategies for patients with uveitis.
How similar studies have performed: While the specific genetic associations in uveitis may be novel, similar genetic studies in other autoimmune conditions have shown promising results.
