Understanding the clinical outcomes of idiopathic normal pressure hydrocephalus
Phenotypes, Biomarkers and Pathophysiology in INPH
This study is trying to learn more about idiopathic normal pressure hydrocephalus and its progression by looking at different tests and samples from people with the condition to help improve diagnosis and treatment.

What this trial studies
This observational study aims to explore the clinical spectrum and natural progression of idiopathic normal pressure hydrocephalus (iNPH) and related disorders. It will involve a prospective cohort design at a single center, where researchers will identify digital, imaging, and molecular biomarkers to assist in diagnosis and therapy development. Participants will undergo standardized clinical examinations and have the option to donate biosamples, including blood, urine, CSF, and muscle biopsies. The study seeks to determine the main prognostic factors through clinical scales, biomarkers, and imaging techniques.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are patients diagnosed with idiopathic normal pressure hydrocephalus.
Not a fit: Patients who have received surgical or interventional treatment for hydrocephalus or those with other types of hydrocephalus or nervous system diseases may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could lead to improved diagnostic and therapeutic strategies for patients with idiopathic normal pressure hydrocephalus.
How similar studies have performed: While many studies on iNPH have been retrospective, this prospective approach aims to fill gaps in understanding and may provide novel insights into the condition.
