What this trial studies
This observational study aims to evaluate the knowledge and attitudes of pregnant women regarding preeclampsia at Assiut University Hospitals - Women's Health Hospital. It will involve a cross-sectional survey using a structured questionnaire to assess the awareness and understanding of preeclampsia among women attending antenatal care (ANC) visits. The study seeks to identify factors influencing their knowledge and attitudes, which are crucial for improving health-seeking behavior and outcomes related to this serious pregnancy complication.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are all pregnant women attending ANC visits at Assiut University Hospitals, regardless of their trimester.
Not a fit: Patients who are already diagnosed with preeclampsia or eclampsia, or those unable to provide consent due to health issues, will not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could enhance awareness and early detection of preeclampsia among pregnant women, potentially reducing maternal mortality rates.
How similar studies have performed: While there is limited research on this topic in underdeveloped countries, studies in developed nations indicate that increased counseling leads to better patient knowledge, suggesting potential for success in similar approaches.
