What this trial studies
This project collaborates with various clinical units in Norway to establish a platform for delivering and evaluating Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) for patients with self-harm and borderline personality disorder. It aims to systematically collect data on patient characteristics and treatment outcomes to identify predictors of clinical course and response to therapy. The study will analyze factors such as sociodemographic variables, psychiatric diagnoses, and previous treatment history to understand their impact on treatment effectiveness. By utilizing a uniform protocol for assessments, the research seeks to enhance the quality of DBT and improve patient care.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are individuals with a history of repeated deliberate self-harm and a diagnosis of borderline personality disorder.
Not a fit: Patients with psychotic disorders, anorexia nervosa, substance dependence disorder, or autism may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could lead to more personalized and effective treatment strategies for patients with borderline personality disorder and self-harming behaviors.
How similar studies have performed: Other studies have shown success in using DBT for similar conditions, indicating that this approach is both tested and promising.
