Understanding patient preferences for different thyroid surgery methods
Public Awareness, Trust, and Risk Perception Toward Robotic Surgery, Telesurgery and Telemedicine
This study is trying to understand what patients think about different thyroid surgery methods, like robotic and open surgery, to see which factors matter most to them when making their choice.

What this trial studies
This observational study explores how patients perceive various surgical approaches for thyroid disease, including robotic, endoscopic, and open thyroidectomy. Patients undergoing surgery are asked to complete an anonymous questionnaire after receiving counseling on the differences between these methods. The study assesses factors such as incision size, cost, recovery time, and satisfaction with cosmetic outcomes to understand what influences patient choices in surgical options. The ultimate goal is to promote the adoption of robotic thyroidectomy by highlighting its advantages.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are patients scheduled for thyroid surgery who are willing to provide feedback through a questionnaire.
Not a fit: Patients who are not undergoing thyroid surgery or those unwilling to complete the questionnaire may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could help tailor surgical options to better meet patient preferences, potentially improving satisfaction and outcomes.
How similar studies have performed: While there have been studies on patient preferences in surgical approaches, this specific focus on robotic thyroidectomy is relatively novel.
