What this trial studies

This is a qualitative interview project at Charité Universitätsmedizin Berlin to gather experiences from prostate cancer patients undergoing curative-intent radiotherapy and, where possible, their relatives. Semi-structured interviews in German will explore treatment side effects, everyday challenges during and after radiotherapy, and attitudes toward starting supportive measures before or during therapy (prehabilitation). Responses will be analyzed qualitatively to identify common needs and preferences and to inform the design of a tailored prehabilitation program. Findings will be used to shape interventions aiming to reduce functional decline and improve quality of life during and after radiotherapy.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Men aged 18 or older with prostate cancer scheduled for curative-intent radiotherapy who speak German and can consent are the ideal candidates, and relatives may also be invited to participate.

Not a fit: People not undergoing curative radiotherapy, those unable to participate in German-language interviews, or with impaired capacity to consent are unlikely to benefit directly from this project.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this work could lead to prehabilitation programs started before or during radiotherapy that reduce severe side effects and improve patients' quality of life.

How similar studies have performed: Prehabilitation approaches have shown benefits in surgical oncology and some radiotherapy settings, but focused qualitative work and program development specifically for prostate radiotherapy remain limited.
