What this trial studies

This observational study aims to collect clinical and laboratory data from 400 patients with Type 1 Diabetes (T1D) who have had the condition for at least 10 years. Over a period of three years, patients will be followed up annually to explore risk and protective factors associated with microvascular complications. The study will utilize regression analysis to identify these factors and ensure data accuracy through a dual-entry system for data collection. The findings aim to enhance understanding of long-term T1D characteristics, particularly in the context of the Chinese population.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are individuals diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes for 10 years or more who are insulin-dependent.

Not a fit: Patients with Type 2 diabetes, gestational diabetes, or other specific types of diabetes will not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this study could lead to improved prediction and prevention strategies for microvascular complications in long-term T1D patients.

How similar studies have performed: While studies on long-term T1D exist, this specific focus on the Chinese population and the identification of protective factors is relatively novel.
