What this trial studies
This observational study aims to explore the relationship between sleep health and cardiovascular disease (CVD) risk factors in Singapore, a city known for its high levels of sleep deprivation. By utilizing objective sleep tracking through wearables, the study will assess various dimensions of sleep, including duration, timing, regularity, and efficiency, alongside health assessments related to cardiovascular conditions. The research will also consider the impact of mental health factors, such as depression and stress, on cardiovascular health. The goal is to gain insights into how poor sleep may contribute to the progression of CVD among individuals with existing risk factors.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates include individuals with high blood pressure, high cholesterol, fatty liver, a family history of heart disease or stroke, or obesity who are willing to wear a sleep tracking device.
Not a fit: Patients with a prior history of heart attack or stroke, those with restricted peripheral circulation, or individuals with pacemakers may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could lead to improved strategies for managing cardiovascular health through better sleep interventions.
How similar studies have performed: Previous studies have indicated a link between sleep quality and cardiovascular health, suggesting that this approach may yield valuable insights.
