What this trial studies

This study aims to assess the prevalence of Nonalcoholic Fatty Liver Disease (NAFLD) among patients diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes Mellitus (T1DM). It involves the use of a FibroScan, a non-invasive imaging technique, to evaluate liver health in participants. The study will include adults aged 18 and older who provide informed consent, while excluding those with excessive alcohol use or other liver disease causes. The findings could provide valuable insights into the liver health of T1DM patients.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are adults aged 18 and older with a diagnosis of Type 1 Diabetes.

Not a fit: Patients with excessive alcohol use or other causes of liver disease will not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this study could enhance understanding of liver health in Type 1 Diabetes patients, potentially leading to better management strategies.

How similar studies have performed: While studies on NAFLD in diabetes exist, this specific focus on T1DM patients is less common, making it a novel approach.
