What this trial studies

This study investigates how genetic factors influence an individual's risk for cannabis use disorder (CanUD) and their response to cannabinoids. It aims to explore the relationship between genetics and the development of CanUD, as well as the effectiveness of treatments for this condition. Participants will receive either Delta-9-THC or a placebo to assess their responses. The research is particularly relevant given the increasing prevalence of cannabis use and its associated risks.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are adults aged 21-60 who are experiencing issues related to cannabis use disorder.

Not a fit: Patients with major medical conditions, cannabis-naïve individuals, or those who are pregnant will not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this study could lead to personalized treatment strategies for individuals with cannabis use disorder based on their genetic profiles.

How similar studies have performed: While there have been studies on cannabis use disorder, this specific genetic approach is relatively novel and has not been extensively tested.
