What this trial studies
This observational study aims to establish a longitudinal cohort of patients suffering from end-stage liver disease. It will investigate interpersonal and structural factors that influence liver transplant evaluation and listing, focusing on patient characteristics such as race, ethnicity, socioeconomic status, and gender. Additionally, the study will explore the use of stigmatizing language among patients based on their demographic backgrounds, with the goal of informing healthcare interventions to reduce disparities in liver transplantation.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are patients with end-stage liver dysfunction.
Not a fit: Patients with multiple organ dysfunctions, cognitive impairments, or prior solid organ transplants may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could lead to improved healthcare interventions that reduce disparities in liver transplant access and outcomes.
How similar studies have performed: Other studies have shown success in addressing healthcare disparities, making this approach promising yet still requiring further exploration.
