What this trial studies
This study investigates communication issues in discussions about immunotherapy between patients and healthcare providers. It aims to identify misunderstandings regarding the risks and benefits of immunotherapy, assess patient comprehension of technical terms, and explore preferences for information sharing. The study involves observing patient-provider conversations, conducting interviews, and testing the effectiveness of educational videos designed to enhance understanding of immunotherapy. The ultimate goal is to improve patient knowledge and decision-making regarding immunotherapy treatments.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates include patients and providers who are involved in discussions about immunotherapy at the Winship Cancer Institute.
Not a fit: Patients who are not engaged in discussions about immunotherapy or those not receiving cancer treatment may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could enhance patient understanding of immunotherapy, leading to better-informed treatment decisions.
How similar studies have performed: While communication issues in healthcare have been studied, this specific approach focusing on immunotherapy discussions is relatively novel.
