What this trial studies

This observational study aims to gather data through a cross-sectional, pseudo-anonymous questionnaire administered to individuals living with HIV who are receiving care at designated hospitals in French Guiana. Over a 12-month period, the study will focus on identifying factors associated with prolonged periods of loss of care, delays in starting antiretroviral therapy, and the overall experience of patients regarding their diagnosis and follow-up care. By analyzing responses from approximately 300 participants, the study seeks to highlight key issues affecting HIV care in this region.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are individuals aged 18 and over who are living with HIV and receiving care at one of the GHT hospitals in French Guiana.

Not a fit: Patients who are under 18 years of age, not living with HIV, or unable to participate due to physical or mental disabilities may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this study could lead to improved strategies for maintaining care and treatment adherence among people living with HIV in French Guiana.

How similar studies have performed: While this study addresses specific local challenges, similar observational studies have shown success in identifying barriers to care and improving treatment pathways in other regions.
