What this trial studies
This clinical trial investigates the effectiveness of three different treatment methods for women suffering from post-mastectomy lymphedema. Sixty participants, aged 40 to 60, with grade 2 and 3 lymphedema, are randomly assigned to one of three groups: one receiving complex decongestive therapy (CDT) alone, another receiving cryotherapy, and the third receiving kinesio taping. The study aims to measure the outcomes of these interventions on lymphedema severity and patient quality of life.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are women aged 40 to 60 with unilateral arm lymphedema post-mastectomy and significant swelling.
Not a fit: Patients with skin infections, systemic edema, current metastases, or other serious health conditions may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could provide effective treatment options for women suffering from lymphedema after breast cancer surgery.
How similar studies have performed: Other studies have shown promising results with similar therapeutic approaches for lymphedema, suggesting potential efficacy.
