Assessment of Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) Degeneratio Mucosa Treatment

Observational Artromedical Konrad Malinowski Clinic · NCT05701579

What this trial studies

This study evaluates a surgical technique called ACL 'decompression' for patients suffering from Anterior Cruciate Ligament Degeneratio Mucosa, a condition that impairs daily functioning. The approach involves making longitudinal incisions to evacuate extrafibrous mucoid tissue from the ACL. The goal is to assess the effectiveness of this technique compared to traditional methods that may risk further functional deterioration. Patients will be selected based on specific MRI-confirmed criteria related to their condition.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates are patients with ACL degeneratio mucosa who are scheduled for surgical treatment and have confirmed range of motion impairment due to mucoid changes.

Not a fit: Patients with active knee inflammation or range of motion impairment due to other causes will not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this treatment could improve knee function and quality of life for patients with ACL degeneration.

How similar studies have performed: While there have been reports on ACL excision and reconstruction, this specific technique of ACL 'decompression' is novel and has not been widely tested.
