What this trial studies
Forty women with chronic plaque psoriasis and PCOS will be assigned to one of two 12-week groups at Cairo University. The intervention group will perform 40 minutes of treadmill walking three times per week in addition to following a low-calorie diet and taking daily metformin, while the comparison group will follow the low-calorie diet and daily metformin alone. Outcomes will be tracked over 12 weeks to observe changes in clinical status and related metabolic measures. Key safety exclusions include significant cardiac, liver, respiratory, or vascular disease.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Adult women with class I obesity who have chronic plaque psoriasis and diagnosed PCOS and who can safely perform moderate treadmill exercise and take metformin.
Not a fit: Women with significant cardiac, liver, respiratory, or vascular disease, or those who do not have both psoriasis and PCOS or are not obese, are unlikely to benefit from this intervention.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, adding regular treadmill walking could improve skin symptoms, weight, and metabolic or reproductive features in these women.
How similar studies have performed: Diet and exercise interventions have shown benefits for obesity and PCOS and exercise may help psoriasis, but direct trials combining treadmill walking with diet and metformin in women who have both conditions are limited.
