What this trial studies

Women with fibromyalgia who meet the entry criteria will be assigned to one of two walking programs: supervised treadmill sessions supported by a mobile application or walking sessions in an outdoor setting. The treadmill option is intended to improve exercise continuity and adherence when weather or other factors limit outdoor activity. Outcomes will include measures of aerobic capacity, quality of life, and kinesiophobia to compare the two approaches. Study procedures take place at a single center in Ankara and require participants to be able to use the mobile app for the treadmill arm.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Women aged 25 to 55 with fibromyalgia who have not done regular physical activity in the past three months and who are on a stable medication regimen are the intended participants.

Not a fit: People with cardiac or pulmonary disease, rheumatologic, psychiatric or neurological disorders, recent injectable therapies, pregnancy or breastfeeding, or recent changes in medical treatment are unlikely to benefit and are excluded.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, the intervention could help patients maintain regular aerobic exercise and improve fitness, quality of life, and confidence in movement.

How similar studies have performed: Previous aerobic walking programs have shown benefits for fibromyalgia symptoms and quality of life, but direct comparisons between treadmill-with-app support and outdoor walking are limited.
