What this trial studies

This clinical trial evaluates the effectiveness of trauma-adapted yoga (TAY) as a complementary intervention for adolescents diagnosed with ADHD and/or PTSD in child and adolescent psychiatry clinics. The study aims to assess the impact of an eight-week TAY program on mental health, quality of life, and self-care practices. Participants will be randomly assigned to either the yoga group or a waiting list, with analyses conducted to compare outcomes between these groups. The study also seeks to gather insights from adolescents, parents, and healthcare professionals regarding their experiences with TAY.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are adolescents aged 12-18 who have a confirmed diagnosis of ADHD and/or PTSD and can communicate in English or Swedish.

Not a fit: Patients with ongoing substance use, active manic episodes, psychotic disorders, suicidality, cognitive impairments, or serious physical illnesses may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this intervention could provide adolescents with effective non-pharmacological tools to improve their mental health and overall quality of life.

How similar studies have performed: While research on yoga's efficacy in mental health treatment is limited, existing studies suggest promising outcomes, indicating that this approach may be beneficial but is still relatively novel.
