What this trial studies

This project aims to develop a new treatment for enhancing sentence production and comprehension in individuals with aphasia through implicit priming techniques. The study will be conducted over five years and will include a series of experiments to identify the most effective learning conditions for maximizing training gains. The researchers will investigate how implicit learning can facilitate language recovery and will assess the generalization of improvements across different language tasks. Ultimately, the goal is to establish an effective intervention strategy based on the findings from these studies.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates include individuals who are at least six months post-stroke with aphasia and have some ability to use words independently.

Not a fit: Patients with severe apraxia of speech or other neurological conditions affecting communication may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this treatment could significantly improve communication abilities for patients with aphasia.

How similar studies have performed: Other studies have shown promise in using implicit learning techniques for language recovery, suggesting potential success for this approach.
