What this trial studies
The project delivers targeted Parkinson's disease training to healthcare professionals working in EHPADs across selected departments of the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region (38, 73, 74, 26, 07). Researchers will observe participating nursing homes and collect resident-reported questionnaires and clinical data from cooperating residents with confirmed PD to measure quality of life and care outcomes. The work focuses on real-world implementation, aiming to identify barriers to admission and gaps in symptom management as the disease progresses. The University Hospital Grenoble leads the program in collaboration with France Parkinson and local nursing homes.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Adults with a confirmed Parkinson's diagnosis who live in participating nursing homes in departments 38, 73, 74, 26, or 07 and who can cooperate with questionnaires.
Not a fit: Residents who cannot cooperate because of severe cognitive impairment, who refuse participation, or who live outside the specified departments are unlikely to benefit from this program.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this could help nursing homes provide safer, more personalized care and improve residents' day-to-day well-being.
How similar studies have performed: Prior research in long-term care suggests staff training can improve care processes and some patient outcomes, but PD-specific training in nursing homes has limited and mixed evidence.
