What this trial studies
This clinical trial evaluates the effectiveness of an augmented reality (AR) training system for foreign care workers in improving the oral health of older adults. Participants are divided into three groups: one receiving AR training combined with video-based education, another receiving only video education, and a control group receiving a leaflet. The study measures changes in oral care behaviors and salivary biomarkers over a six-month period through questionnaires and oral assessments. The goal is to enhance the skills of caregivers to better manage oral health issues in elderly patients.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are Indonesian caregivers aged 21 to 65 working in Kaohsiung City and elderly individuals over 65 years old who can cooperate with instructions.
Not a fit: Patients who may not benefit include elderly individuals with facial impairments or those unable to follow instructions.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this intervention could significantly improve oral health outcomes for older adults cared for by trained foreign workers.
How similar studies have performed: While the use of augmented reality in healthcare training is emerging, this specific application for oral care training in foreign caregivers is relatively novel and has not been extensively tested.
