What this trial studies
This project evaluates the effectiveness of a training program in abdominal and thyroid ultrasound for family doctors in urban primary care settings. It aims to assess the knowledge gained by physicians and the satisfaction of patients over 60 years old who receive care from these trained doctors. The study will analyze the impact of this training on consultation resolution times and the reduction of referrals to specialized care. By enhancing the diagnostic capabilities of primary care physicians, the program seeks to improve patient outcomes and streamline healthcare delivery.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are patients over 60 years of age receiving care from trained family doctors in urban primary care settings.
Not a fit: Patients who do not receive care from participating family doctors or those under 60 years of age may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this program could lead to improved diagnostic accuracy and reduced need for specialist referrals for elderly patients.
How similar studies have performed: Similar training interventions in clinical ultrasound have shown promise in enhancing primary care capabilities, suggesting potential success for this approach.
