What this trial studies
This study explores the use of theatrical expressive tasks to improve social communication skills in children diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). The intervention involves a structured expressivity protocol designed for both autistic and non-autistic children, aiming to enhance non-verbal communication skills such as facial expressions, vocal intonation, and gestures. By engaging in these theatrical activities, the study seeks to address the social interaction deficits commonly observed in children with ASD. The methodology focuses on assessing the impact of these tasks on the participants' ability to engage socially and communicate effectively.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are children aged 6 to 11 years who have a diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder and an IQ over 80.
Not a fit: Patients with other medical disorders or those outside the specified age range may not receive benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this approach could significantly enhance social communication skills in children with autism, leading to improved interactions and relationships.
How similar studies have performed: While the specific approach of using theatrical tasks is novel, similar interventions focusing on expressive arts have shown promise in improving social skills in children with autism.
