What this trial studies

This observational study aims to improve the diagnosis of heart failure with preserved ejection fraction (HFpEF) in patients experiencing exertional breathlessness. It evaluates the effectiveness of exercise right heart catheterization and invasive cardiopulmonary exercise testing as gold-standard diagnostic methods, while also exploring the potential of non-invasive tests and other provocative tests. The study seeks to address the challenges posed by low sensitivity of current diagnostic algorithms and the impact of comorbidities on symptom interpretation. By comparing results from different cohorts, the study aims to enhance diagnostic accuracy for HFpEF.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are patients experiencing dyspnea without a known diagnosis of HFpEF.

Not a fit: Patients who already have a confirmed diagnosis of HFpEF will not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this study could lead to more accurate diagnoses of HFpEF, improving patient management and outcomes.

How similar studies have performed: While some studies have explored similar diagnostic approaches, this study aims to provide new insights specific to Italian cohorts, making it a novel investigation.
