What this trial studies

This clinical trial evaluates the usability of a locally built adaptive rowing machine designed for individuals with spinal cord injuries. Participants will engage in a one-time exercise session that includes two bouts of rowing, with heart rate monitored throughout the activity. The study aims to assess exercise intensity, required assistance for setup, and user satisfaction with the rowing machine. A total of 15 participants will be recruited to provide insights into the effectiveness of this adaptive exercise equipment.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates are individuals who use a wheelchair for mobility and can perform rowing motions with their arms.

Not a fit: Patients with current pressure wounds or those experiencing pain with the rowing motion may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this study could enhance exercise accessibility and satisfaction for individuals with spinal cord injuries.

How similar studies have performed: While this approach is innovative, similar studies have shown promise in adaptive exercise interventions for individuals with disabilities.
