What this trial studies
This interventional study aims to evaluate the feasibility of a new communication tool called MyIBD for youth aged 13 to 19 years with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). Participants will complete surveys at three time points to assess the tool's impact on their self-management skills and quality of care. The study will compare outcomes between those using MyIBD and a control group receiving standard care. The goal is to enhance care coordination and improve health outcomes for young patients with IBD.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are youth aged 13-19 years with a diagnosis of Crohn's disease, ulcerative colitis, or indeterminate colitis who have been receiving ongoing care at UNC.
Not a fit: Patients who speak a language other than English or Spanish may not benefit from this study due to language barriers.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this tool could significantly improve self-management skills and the quality of care for youth with inflammatory bowel disease.
How similar studies have performed: Previous studies have shown promise in using technology to enhance communication and care coordination in chronic disease management, making this approach both relevant and potentially impactful.
