What this trial studies
This study evaluates the effectiveness of Project ALERT, a drug prevention program for middle school students, in conjunction with the Getting to Outcomes (GTO) support tool. The aim is to enhance the fidelity and adoption of the program in schools, addressing the gap between evidence-based practices and actual implementation. By conducting a randomized controlled trial, the study seeks to determine if GTO can improve the delivery of Project ALERT in public schools. If successful, this approach could significantly enhance the impact of drug prevention efforts in the U.S.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study include 7th grade students aged 12-14 and educators from participating schools.
Not a fit: Patients who may not benefit from this study include those outside the 7th grade age range or schools not participating in the program.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could lead to more effective drug prevention programs in schools, potentially reducing substance abuse among adolescents.
How similar studies have performed: Previous studies have shown promise in using similar approaches to enhance the implementation of evidence-based programs, but this specific combination is relatively novel.
