What this trial studies
This study develops and tests a decision-support intervention aimed at helping patients with laryngeal and pharyngeal cancer make informed choices about participating in clinical trials. The intervention includes a tailored patient decision aid, decision coaching consultations with trained healthcare professionals, and a training program for these coaches. The feasibility of this intervention will be assessed by comparing responses from 60 patients before and after engaging with the decision support tools. The primary focus is on enhancing patient involvement in clinical trial decision-making.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are adults over 18 years old who have been diagnosed with cancer of the pharynx or larynx and can communicate in Danish.
Not a fit: Patients with dyslexia may not benefit from this study due to potential challenges in understanding the decision aid materials.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this intervention could empower patients to make more informed decisions regarding their participation in clinical trials.
How similar studies have performed: While decision-support interventions are emerging, this specific approach tailored for clinical trial participation is relatively novel and has not been extensively tested.
