What this trial studies
This clinical trial aims to evaluate the effectiveness of individualized nutrition therapy on diet quality among community-dwelling individuals with a history of brain injury. Participants will be randomized into two groups: one receiving three personalized nutrition counseling sessions with a Registered Dietitian and the other receiving standard nutrition education handouts. The study will assess changes in dietary intake through surveys and dietary recalls conducted via Zoom or telephone. The goal is to determine if tailored nutrition counseling can lead to improved dietary habits in this population.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are adults aged 18 and older with a history of brain injury who live at home in Alabama and have internet access.
Not a fit: Patients who are under 18, do not have a history of brain injury, or are currently residing in a hospital or rehabilitation facility may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could significantly enhance dietary quality and overall health for individuals living with brain injuries.
How similar studies have performed: Other studies have shown positive outcomes with nutrition therapy in similar populations, suggesting that this approach may be effective.
