What this trial studies
TiM-Research is an observational, prospective database built on the existing TiM telehealth platform to enable people with MND across the UK to take part in research remotely. Participants register on the platform, receive information about available MND studies, and can opt into activities such as online questionnaires, interviews, focus groups, or providing biosamples like saliva. The platform was co-developed with people with MND, carers, and healthcare professionals and is designed to be low burden and usable by people with significant disability. Data and participation preferences are managed online, and participants receive updates on research results from the UK MND Research Institute.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are people living with MND who are based in the UK and are willing and able (or have a carer to help) to use an online platform to complete questionnaires or join study activities.
Not a fit: People who live outside the UK, who lack reliable internet access or device support, or who need direct clinical treatment rather than research participation are unlikely to benefit from this platform.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, TiM-Research could make it much easier for people with MND to take part in research from home, increasing participation and the speed of data collection.
How similar studies have performed: This project builds on the TiM-C telehealth care system, which was co-developed with patients and clinicians and showed high acceptability, ease of use, and clinician-reported accuracy in prior work.
