What this trial studies
This clinical trial involves patients scheduled for cataract surgery at the Medical University of Innsbruck. Participants will undergo standard ophthalmological examinations along with advanced imaging of the anterior segment of the eye using Occyo One technology. The study aims to evaluate whether this imaging can lead to changes in patient management post-surgery based on defined medical criteria. Follow-up visits will assess any postoperative complications and the need for unexpected management changes.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are patients aged 50 years and older who are scheduled for cataract surgery.
Not a fit: Patients who are women of childbearing potential may not benefit from this study due to exclusion criteria.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this approach could enhance the management of cataract surgery patients by improving diagnostic accuracy and postoperative care.
How similar studies have performed: While telemedicine in ophthalmology is gaining traction, this specific approach using Occyo imaging for cataract management is relatively novel and has not been extensively tested in prior studies.
