What this trial studies

This interventional program delivers one-on-one telephone counseling after laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy to reinforce dietary guidance, encourage physical activity, and improve medication and supplement adherence. Eligible adults (18–65) who had their first sleeve gastrectomy, speak Turkish, and can use a phone receive scheduled telecounseling sessions in addition to routine care. The intervention uses behavioral techniques, personalized advice, and reminders tailored to individual needs to support long-term lifestyle change. Outcomes include measures of nutrition adherence, exercise attitudes, and medication compliance collected during follow-up.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Adults aged 18–65 who had their first laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy, are oriented, can speak Turkish, can use a telephone, and have no early postoperative complications are ideal candidates.

Not a fit: Patients with early postoperative complications requiring revision surgery, those with hearing or vision impairments that prevent telephone use, non–Turkish speakers, or those unable to use a phone are unlikely to benefit.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, the intervention could reduce nutritional deficiencies and complications by improving adherence to diet, exercise, and vitamin/supplement regimens after surgery.

How similar studies have performed: Previous studies of telephone follow-up and app-based counseling after bariatric surgery have shown improvements in self-management and treatment adherence, supporting this approach.
