What this trial studies
This study explores the impact of a team-based intervention called ARTAS on improving linkage to care for newly diagnosed HIV patients in an inpatient setting. The intervention aims to reduce hospital readmission rates by providing comprehensive support and resources to patients who are not currently receiving antiretroviral therapy. Participants will receive either the team-based ARTAS intervention or standard care during their hospital stay. The study focuses on patients who are newly diagnosed or not virally suppressed and have not been under the care of an HIV specialist recently.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are adults aged 18 and older who are newly diagnosed with HIV and not currently receiving antiretroviral therapy.
Not a fit: Patients who are virally suppressed, actively taking antiretroviral therapy, or under the care of an HIV specialist within the last six months may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this approach could significantly improve the continuity of care for HIV patients, leading to better health outcomes and reduced hospital readmissions.
How similar studies have performed: Other studies have shown success with team-based interventions for HIV care, indicating a promising approach to improving patient outcomes.
