What this trial studies
This study evaluates the effectiveness of tailored multichannel interventions aimed at promoting weight loss among overweight adolescents. A total of 279 students from eight non-medical colleges at Mansoura University will be recruited and randomly assigned to either an intervention group or a control group. The intervention will utilize a health belief model and include various communication channels such as face-to-face meetings, telephone calls, and WhatsApp messages to engage participants. The goal is to provide a comprehensive approach to weight management that addresses the unique needs of adolescents.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are first and second-year college students with a body mass index (BMI) of 25 or higher.
Not a fit: Patients with chronic illnesses, mental health disorders, or those on medications that cause weight gain may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this intervention could significantly improve weight management and overall health outcomes for adolescents struggling with obesity.
How similar studies have performed: Other studies have shown promise with tailored interventions for weight loss, but this specific multichannel approach is relatively novel.
