What this trial studies
This observational study involves a web-based survey designed to evaluate the knowledge, attitudes, and practices of healthcare professionals, including physicians, nurses, and respiratory therapists, regarding patient-ventilator asynchrony in ICU settings. The survey consists of 25 multiple-choice questions and includes mechanical ventilator waveform snapshots to assess understanding and identify knowledge gaps. The data collected will be anonymous and aims to inform continuous medical education initiatives to improve practices in mechanical ventilation.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are healthcare professionals currently working in the ICU as physicians, nurses, or respiratory therapists.
Not a fit: Patients who are not involved in the care of ICU patients or those not working in a healthcare capacity will not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could enhance the quality of care for patients on mechanical ventilation by addressing knowledge gaps among healthcare professionals.
How similar studies have performed: While this approach is observational and focuses on knowledge assessment, similar studies have shown that identifying educational gaps can lead to improved clinical practices.
