What this trial studies
This clinical trial investigates a surgical technique known as the laterally rotated flap to enhance soft tissue quality and volume around dental implants. The focus is on patients experiencing peri-implant mucositis, a common condition affecting dental implant success. The study aims to assess the effectiveness of this intervention in improving soft tissue characteristics, which are crucial for the longevity of osseointegrated implants. Participants will undergo soft tissue augmentation procedures to address issues related to tissue recession and implant maintenance.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates include individuals with dental implants experiencing soft tissue recession and a plaque index score of less than 30%.
Not a fit: Patients with relevant systemic diseases or those who are pregnant or lactating may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this approach could significantly improve the success rates of dental implants by enhancing the surrounding soft tissue.
How similar studies have performed: Previous studies have indicated the importance of soft tissue quality around implants, suggesting that similar approaches may yield positive outcomes.
